Masterton Masters Swimming Club have been surging up and down the local pool since 1983. At that time there were just a few members and the club has remained relatively small to present day. Despite this, current and former members hold World and National Masters records.
Thirty years ago we established ourselves and registered with New Zealand Masters Swimming.
Our small club has grown and at times had over fifty members. Many have remained loyal and at one period we had members in Sweden and England.
Currently, despite being Masterton based, we have members in Hamilton and Wellington. Our swimmers just can't bear to leave us.
In 2001 a current member swam the full length of Lake Taupo:45km in 14 hours. Another member, in 2003, swam the full length of the Waikato River: 333km in 21 days. In October 2006 and 2008 we hosted the North Island short course championships.
Our website will tell you a little more about our 30 year old club.
